When I recently realised my much-loved blog had lost its domain name and theme (apologies for whatever the heck was going on there), I decided I urgently needed to update my domain name. To my blogging friends (you know who you are), I will always be “The Cat’s Write,” but I’ve decided I will be publishing my books under my married name of “Milly Rogers” (nee Schmidt).
Changing your brand so late in the game is probably not the best idea, but I have always loved my husband’s last name and wanted to share that decision with you all. I’m looking forward to finding my long-lost blogging friends and seeing who is still here after all this time. It’s been three long years since I last posted, and SO MUCH has changed in my life during that time (and the landscape of WordPress has changed a bit too!)
Since my last blog post, I sold my house in the country, got married, moved, bought a house and moved (again!) permanently to the beach. All of this could not have been possible without my husband, who was also keen to move back to the coast, as he grew up by the ocean. Daily beach walks, inlet adventures, paddle boarding excursions, and picnics by the sea are now regular occurrences for us, and we understand how lucky we are that this is our life now. I am also finally living my dream of being a writer by the beach.
Most importantly, we got a new cat since I last posted!! Meet Bonsai the undocumented ragdoll we bought from a shelter (who ended up with FIP). While spending 7k of our emergency savings to save his life was a crazy three-month experience (we didn’t know the initial cost until we were knee deep in treatment), I feel utterly privileged I could easily access treatment here in Australia and would do it all over again. The said expensive kitty here:

While I still haven’t come close to self-publishing my novels (I am still in the “how the heck do I find an editor I can afford” stage), I will never stop trying. While I still don’t think my stories are good enough to publish *just yet*… as the late Alan Rickman used to say, never give up, never surrender. So it’s onto the next story, the next book, the next chapter 🙂
